I have used pennzoil in my vehicles for over 15 years now. truck is on PP now but will be going back to GC for the winter. never had a problem with any of them. just noticed that my wifes 00 malibu seems to like castrol GTX better.seems to run smoother than the pennz. but use it with out worries its a fine oil.

I used pennzoil mostly before I joined here never had a problem with it. But since I've been here I switched to havoline and have tried a few others and I have to say here lately I've been thinking about going back to pennzoil. Why, I miss the yellow bottle and it has always served me and my family well for many years. So use with confidence.

I started racing dirt stock cars in 1981. Had a sponsorship with Pennzoil. Ran nothing but that till I quit racing in 1995. Never had a oil related issue. My last motor went 2 1/2 seasons (about 80-90 nights) before rebuild when we took it apart the engine builder was surprised at how little wear was in the bearings. No sludge, engine looked almost as clean as when it was built. By the way, back then I got PZ oil filters too!

Fellas, please keep in mind that when you mention a brand name in lubricants you are really aiming at a moving target for a certain time period, corporate ownership, theories of formulation, movement in the industry of chemists, technologists, financial realities, etc..

Shell is attempting to make Pennzoil and QuakerState formulas of very high quality but to talk about running a brand name does not acurately describe the chemistry that engine was seeing.

If you watch my commentary here and on Noria over the years you can see a progression through brand names that are showing well or not. Its because of those variables mentioned above. I am in the business of getting the best for my customers whether it is Shell or Patman!

Ok, atleast I got the answers I needed. I will use it and be comfy now, I might add a little Valvoline treatment to it to thicken it up a touch for my truck. Use it all up then probly go back to what I'm used too.

Sorry, I would do a oil test but I am not that picky. I have had no problem with Pennzoil before in my 84 5.0 Mustang, looked new when I pulled the valve covers.
Have heard the same results from Castrol. Never saw a engine with mostly Havoline in it's diet but I would assume most oils are identical to a point now days and boils down to witch is cheeper.
