I have always used Pennzoil products & just changed the fluid & filter in my Yukon XL transmission so I needed more fluid. I went to Amazon to buy a case of Pennzoil & realized they no longer make Dexron VI. I emailed them & was told that a Pennzoil Platinum LV MV product had replaced it. However if you read the fine print on the website it states to not use it where Dexron VI is needed. I'm sure I can buy Dexron VI anywhere else but thought it was weird Pennzoil stopped making Dexron VI.

That person is a liar and should be ashamed of themselves. It sounds like the usual deflect the bad criticism remark. Otherwise, being it looks like your a Pennzoil loyalist, I am sorry, you will need to go to another brand to meet your dexron vi needs till Pennzoil comes to there senses, if they do.

Chances are they won't. I find it weird however that they push the PPPP & QSUD as being superior to other Dexos brands. Why focus on one segment but ignore the other. I have since found Valvoline & Mobil 1 to fit my needs however its hard to pick a new brand after 13 yrs. I guess I'll have to ponder this for awhile.

I'm servicing cars all over the map, one takes Dexron VI, four take Dexron III, one takes Mercon V, and one takes Subaru ATP HP. I can service all but the Mercon requirement with Valvoline MaxLife full synthetic ATP Dex/Merc LV. It was difficult to find one for the Sub HP requirement but this one does. I still have to get a separate fluid for the Mercon but that's easy to find.

The Pennzoil Platinum LV multi vehicle is licensed for both Dexron VI and Mercon LV. The license numbers are listed on the bottles I've seen.

Edit; pretty sure I saw the license numbers listed on the bottle. I've picked up a bottle in a truckstop before and may buy some to try.

I do not see this ATF on Pennziol's website. (Seems strange) What is on their website (that I see) is the Mercon V which indicates not suitable for Dexron VI. As was mentioned the bottle for the Pennzoil Plat LV MV indicates it is approved for Dexron VI. It is listed on GM's list of approved Dex VI fluids with Lic # J-60182.

I see that they only have the Mercon V and there Multi-Vehicle ATF on there web page. Do not know why they don't have Platium LV MV ATF for.

According to GM's Dexron VI Licensing site 'Shell Spirax S6 ATF X' has the same license number as this Pennzoil ATF but from just a brief search it seems more mysterious than this Pennzoil ATF.

Looks like direct linking may not work. If not go to http://www.epc.shell.com/ click 'Continue' then put 'Platinum LV' in the search box and click 'Search'.

If it's officially licensed by GM there are no performance differences between Genuine DexronVI products, so Supertech DexronVI is just as good as Valvoline DexronVI and the same for other brands. The additive packages are exactly the same as specified by the spec and base oils are tightly regulated as well with minor VI differences.

Check here before you buy and make sure it's licensed.

That info is not for the Pennzoil Platinum LV multi vehicle atf. The Platinum LV is licensed for Dexron VI and approved for Mercon LV. I saw a bottle today and it goes for $6.99 per quart at Pilot and Flying J truckstops. The Dexron license # is on the bottle.

I'm clearly posting info straight from email & the product from their website. It clearly states not for use in Dexron VI vehicles.

dusty roads, you are correct. Pennzoil don't have that one on there web page. It's time for Pennzoil to update there web page. They don't even have there platinum high mileage motor oil on.

I came across that Shell stuff on the Shell site, but I can't find a sheet for it among Canadian or American products.
