I'm getting married soon and am wondering what you guys think or have done...

Should I pay for my Best Man's & 2 Groomsmen's tuxedos or should each of them pay for their own...?

No, I'm not cheap that way - just want to know what should be done. BTW - Each of them has "plenty" of money and are well established.

Thanks.....!

Protocol says the best man and groomsmen pay for their own tux rental. Most know this before you ask them to be in your wedding. That's the way its been long before I got married back in the early 80's.

It's traditional for the bridesmaids and groomsmen to pay for their own outfit.

That's what I hear and read also, Johnny, but have heard a few the other way also.

One of the Groomsmen just said to me: "no, you should not pay, we should pay, that just comes with it".

Hummm...

Johnny is right, protocol is that best man and groomsman pay for their own tux rentals. However, it is courtesy to get them a gift for their service.

Yeah, it's not required but I feel that if it is in the budget that the bride and groom should pay for the bridal parties outfit.

Your groomsman is correct. The part where you pay is very old school from the 40's-50's, and early 60's.

Besides, you should charge them for all the dirty tricks they are going to pull on you before you walk down the aisle and leave town.

I agree. I have always paid for my tux and have received a small remembrance type gift from the bride and groom "for my services."

HAHA! You can help me go through all my oils and take what I don't want too!

I think they should pay for thier own and on the other side of the coin, if asked to be the best man or groomsman, I would be embarrassed to even accept payment for the honor to be in the wedding from the groom. I didnt pay for any of my groomsmens tuxedo's or any of my wifes bridesmaids. We had a large wedding. I never heard of this.

I paid for my groomsmen', friends paid for their groomsmen.

It all depends on how you feel. I wouldn't want to ask people to do me a favor and pay for it, so I pay. You may risk people thinking of you being cheap by not paying, and they can always deduct some from your gift anyways.

For bridesmaid, the bride IMO has to pay for it because these dresses are expensive and not usable after the event (what are you going to do with it?), plus altering and all that.

People that ask me to pay for my own tux or my wife to pay for her own dress in a wedding is the one that we would refuse to be bridesmaid/groomsman.

Not sure yet, probably about 200. Or 201 with Johnny.

Or 202 with AcuraTech...

I suppose it depends on your cultural background. I've never heard of the Groom paying for anyone's tux but his own.
From ask.com:
"There is a considerable expense involved in being a groomsman, including cost of apparel, travel, and hotel room for the ceremony, hosting a bachelor party, as well as the gifts. A groomsman should have these expenses in mind when he accepts the honor and be up front with the groom about what he is and isn’t able to afford."
