Does anyone have a part# handy for an FL1A style filter without an antidrain back valve? Size doesn't matter as long as no antidrain back valve and it can mount to a remote filter mount intended for FL1A/PH8A.

Baldwin has one..BT111..maybe.

Their catalog shows a high pressure by-pass valve (18-25psi)and no AD. You might want to contact Baldwin to verify.
3/4-16 thread, 3 11/15 OD, 5 3/8 height.
It's for Ford tractors.

Wix cross is 51452 but theirs has an AD..as does Champs PH 2815

Its being used as an oil/air seperator on a PCV valve line. I think its the drain back valve that is making all the air noise on the current setup I have. I will check out that Baldwin, thanks!

Try a Fram Ph8A.

Their valves never work anyway.

There's a sticky thread at the top that lists the phone numbers for the manufacturers, call Baldwin and they can direct you to a local source. Baldwin is available through Kenworth truck delaers. Doesn't mean the local KW dealer stocks Baldwin but he can order it in.

Knowing what you are doing with the filter, why do you need the by-pass valve?

There are other alternative spin-ons for air/oil seperation.

But your probably trying to spend $5 for a filter instead of getting a purpose made air/oil seperator which has treated paper media for that use.

what would happen if you just took a nice pointy awl and rammed it through the baseplate holes?

It might still whistle, but at a more tolerable frequency.

You sure you not using it as an exhaust vent filter?

As for an air/oil seperator. Mann has one the size of a PH8A. But it is metric threads. They do have an inline adaptor that works on 3/4" lines. But it's not the cost of a $5 Fram. I can tell you.

If your interested on the technical specs, send me a pm with a fax number and i'll fax you the info.

Air/Oil seperators are usually not pleated peper elements. They are specialty synthetic medias.

Let me know your whereabouts in the USA and I might point you in the direction where you can purchase this.

I've tried poking and drilling the bypass valve through the holes, its not easily done.

Price is a factor as these things sludge up pretty quickly from cold starts and the water vapor involved from what I have seen. If I was to spend serious money, it needs to have a drain valve at the bottom.

Its being used inline on a 3/8" PCV line. Current el cheapo oil filters work perfectly other than that dreaded "hum" I have learned that the smaller seperators (like discussed elsewhere on this site) do not work as well since the airflow is so high. Once the airflow comes up on the smaller seperators, the spinning of the oil collected at the bottom spins and rises up high enough to be sucked out.

I have thought about using a Chevy spec filter and remote mount, problem is I already have 4 of the PH8A spec mounts.

It's close enough. All the other filters mention an ADBV is installed

WIX. The NAPA # is 1410. It appears that all the lubrication filters begin with 5 ..the fuel filters with 3 and the air filters with 4 ..or so it seems

Try a filter with no anti-drain and no by-pass valve. You might even find one longer than 5". Which a longer filter should last longer.

Baldwin has one: B7231

3/4-16, 3 11/16" OD, 7 1/8" Height.

Probably won't be $5 though..

Haha - that Napa part is $10 so I will give it a test try on one car. If it works I will be picking up some Chevy style remote mounts and using the $3 stuff, no bypass or anti drain back there either :-)

I was looking for a fuel filter with a drain in the 3/4-16 thread ..but didn't find one. They're expensive ..but the drain tap would probably mean that you wouldn't have to change it for a very long time.

Gary, you might try a Napa replacement filter for a Racor fuel and water seperator filter. It has the petcock on the bottom of the filter....it is a bit pricy and I don't know the thread size. Napa # 3426
