Paging Nissan Juke owners

While I most likely will soon buy a Mazda 6 or CX5, the Nissan Juke remains an option. I would lean rather towards the FWD than the AWD version. I have a few concerns and would like to hear opinions from Juke owners. I sat in a Juke, and the cockpit felt rather cramped. How durable is the 1.6 liter turbo engine? How about the engine in the Nismo version? How is the Juke's rust resistance? Any quirks or issues to be aware of?

My mom has a 2014. No problems so far, she loves the thing. It is a small car but its perfect for what she needs. Most owners are having to replace the OEM tires around 20-30,000 miles. They are the GY Eagles though so that is pretty typical.

I don't know about drivetrain durablity, I don't think they've been out long enough to see long term results.

I've driven it a few times. I didn't think it would be that fun to drive but it surprised me. They're actually set up to be pretty responsive. Starting from a stop is kind of annoying because of the CVT rubberband effect. Once it catches though you shoot forward pretty fast and the power is impressive once your moving. The car as a whole exceeded my expectations, but its too small for me to own one.

They have timing chain issues. I would avoid. Plus the interior is cheap looking and feeling.

That can't be. I've read on here numerous times that timing chains last forever,

The cx5 has a nicer interior and a big boy transmission.

I wouldn't buy a Nissan, period and I strongly discourage you buying a Nissan.

I had a 00 Maxima and it was quite a nightmare, starting w/ coils failing at 40K (they never ever did a recall on the dammn coils), bad coils resulted in fouling cats/O2s, suspension problems, steering rack issues, mounts, I can go on and on.

The only thing that held up was the engine and transmission.

They build buggy vehicles, haven't you considered the upgraded 2.7L Rav4.

RAV4 still uses the 2.5, it's the Venza or Highlander which have the 2.7 for base motor.

Have you sat in a Juke yet?

My wife really wanted a Juke. We finally sat in one at the dealer and we were practically shoulder to shoulder. Looked back at our 5'2 son and he was all wadded up in the back.

The salesperson had seen this before and immediately started steering us to a Rogue.

By comparison, her PT felt huge inside. It's not that much bigger on paper, but it certainly feels like it.

Why not just get a Golf or a Mazda3 5-door?
You get more gas mileage, more interior volume, and will handle at least as well as....wait, we're talking Volkswagen and Mazda. They will handle better than a Juke.

Fiesta and Sonic are at least as big on the inside.

You could probably get a really good price on a leftover Lancer Sportback.

I can't stand the Mazda 3's minimalist gauge cluster. If I get a Mazda, it will be a 6 or CX5.
