Now that I own a Pentastar, I have to learn cartridge filters again. They've change a littlle from the ones my 1949 Plymouth used. But actually not as much as you might think.
Anyway, the first thing I learned was that the palette of choices is tiny compared with can filters- only "plain" filters stocked locally: No P1, no M1, no RP, no Fram Ultra. In fact most of those don't even list an application on-line yet, let alone locally. Several stores didn't even have a standard in stock... What's a filter geek to do?
This geek ordered a P1, and when it arrived I found myself underwhelmed. Folds are very tightly packed. That is kinda typical for P1, not the biggest concern except the small diameter of the cartridge exacerbates the issue. But are all cartridge-types "E-core" style? that's a much bigger gripe for me. I'd much prefer a perforated steel center tube! Other than that, looks OK. Th newer bluish P1 media instead of the older reddish media. Made in South Korea.
