The OEM filter for my 95 Toyota 22RE is really small, would running an oversized filter be beneficial other than the engine holding a little more oil? Thanx! Rando

I can't see how a bigger filter could hurt anything as long as it has the same anti drain back valve, bypass setting, and doesn't stick out where it will be damaged. Do not judge a filter by its outside. There rest of this is copied from my answer to the last question.

I have chopped open a bunch of filters, and taken the filter media apart and measured it. Filters the same on the outside, varied by a factor of more than 3 on the inside. I have seen a Miata filter that wasn't half the size of a Fram, that had more filter area than it. Your filter could be carefully built with generous amounts of a quality media. If the outside is small enough, the extra capacity will not hurt the lawn mower.

I have been here long enough to be promoted to a regular member. Don't know exactly that means. The more time I spend here, the more I think that maybe even the maligned Frams may be more than we need.

I have been running the K&N HP-2009 for my '94 22RE. It's the filter recommended for the Ford Focus Engine. It does have a different bypass valve - but the setting is the same. Ipreviously used the Purolator L 25230 (I believe that's the correct #) Been doing it for 3 years. The reason I like the K&N is that I feel confident that it and the Syn oil can go a year (8K/year)
