Oversize filter part number

Yup,Steveh nailed it. To use Fram numbers, the standard size is PH-16; next longest is PH-43: & the biggie PH-8A. These numbers for cross reference only .

If it was my car, I'd use the biggest one that caused no clearance problems. BTW, that big one crosses to a Motorcraft FL-1A, avail at Walmart for about $3!

My wife drives a 2000 T&C 3.8l. I just switched over to a ST8A. Plenty of room for the larger ST8A.

As Mentioned before, the Purolator L30001 is a match.

The PH8 is 5.2 inches long The PH43 is 4.3 inches and the PH16 is 3.8 inches.

For a '95 3.0 liter V6 Dodge Caravan, Motorcraft FL1A and pre ecotec Champ ST8 equivalents will fit on the engine and the thread and gasket size will be correct. I have used these two on a 3.0. But these filters come close to touching the lower radiator hose. Not good. I would go for something shorter like the stock size (ST16 equivalent). If you still want oversize, the walmart ST8 ecotec version which should cross reverence to the Motorcraft FL1A is shorter by about 1/2 inch and may fit better because ecotec styles are smaller than the old clicker valve style. Measure other brands and see if they will fit.

I don't use Fram anymore but the PH8 is the long filter the PH43 is the mid-sized and the PH16 is the short one.

As big as you can fit. ST8 is the next one for you in the ST line up. There are tons more if you have the room. This is the most popular thread/gasket combo in the world (US market anyway).

If you do a search under member 4758 (Big O Dave) you'll see a list of FL1A equivalents.

So how much more oil does the ST 8 hold than the ST 16? I may use an oversize on my wife's GC with the 3.8 for the Auto-RX rinse phase.

OK, that was about what I was guessing. I was going to start with 1/4 qt and work from there. I also have an oversized Wix (51515) and Purlator Premium (30001?),
