Original Toyota, Red, Full Strength Coolant Found!

at Advance Discount Auto Parts. I asked the employee's at an Advance in NJ if they knew where they sell it other than at the Toyota Dealerships.

The employee went to the back stockroom and returned with a Gallon of "Full Strength" Toyota Red. It was not cheap...and cost $32.59 for the gallon. Still less than the Toyota Dealership at $38 and change. They also had the OEM antifreeze/Coolant for Audi, Mercedes, VW and Honda.

During my conversation I learned that these are items not found on the Advance Auto website and are purchased directly from the distributor in the local area. I'll use the full strength and mix with some distilled 50/50 and just buy some Zerex Asian Red/Pink, prediluted for a top off on any vehicles needing some extra coolant.

I can now flush, drain and fill some Toyota's for neighbors who were reluctant to use the "Green" coolant. Who needs the hard to find Peak Global. Buying the Original Red Toyota at Advance Auto saves me time and money trying to track down the Peak Global, Full Strength without silicates or phosphates.

At least the Toyota Original Red contains the Phosphates required by Toyota and also the Zerex Asian diluted has the phosphates.

Advance had the dilluted 50/50 of Toyota Pink Coolat for the same price as yours...$25.00 a gallon

Actually, online Toyota dealerships sell it for ~$22 but refuse to ship. If one can arrange for a local pickup, it's the best option.

They carry both. I think the pink might be a couple dollars cheaper, don't remember for sure. It has been a while and that isn't why I went to the store, just happened to see it.

Do you have a link for that online dealership?

Any Dealership that I've spoken to has it in stock and it is available for pick-up. Anywhere from $38 to $52 full strength, Gallon Jug. I would appreciate your link.....Thanks.

I've never had a problem getting Peak Global Lifetime at my Napa parts store. Worst case is a one day wait while they order it out of their catalog.

It's now up to $16 a gallon (glad there is no inflation) but everything I touch now (Ford, Chevy, GMC, Toyota, Subaru, Honda and Dodge) have seen it.

My current RX takes the pink stuff, but my 01 RX took the red stuff. I should be able to use the red in my 05 I have now right? Reason I ask is because I still have an un-opened jug of the Toyota red coolant.

Pink is good for 100K, mixing lowers service life. At 100K do a drain and fill and your good for another 50K. Thanks for the Tip Wallyuwl....I checked with a Car Quest in NJ and sure enough....they have only 1 gallon of Genuine Toyota left for $22.99. That particular store will not be ordering any more in the future....so it must be on clearance. From what I've been told, the Gallon is Full Strength Red, Genuine Toyota and it's the long term coolant.

I'll stop at Advance Auto and see if they can match the price...if thy can't....I return the gallon to Advance and keep the Gallon from Car Quest.

Well, Advance Auto matched the Car Quest price of $22.99 for the Full Strength Toyota Red Coolant. So now I have three Jugs of the coolant/antifreeze. One from Car Quest and two jugs from Advance Auto.

I should be set for doing some coolant/antifreeze changes on a couple of Toyota cars before the winter.

Many thanks for the info. The first store I called had none. The other had some but they were not sure about the difference between red vs pink. I went in and they had red and not pink. I was on the fence re: pink vs red in my RAV4 (there are a lot of anecdotes of coolant leaks with pink) and decided on the spot I would convert to red. I bought 3 gallons as I have 2 Toyota cars than need coolant change.

When I paid $75 (including tax) the guy who works there mentioned how ridiculously expensive this is. I nodded.

There are a lot of anecdotes of coolant leaks with pink, previously unheard of with red. Water pump is very hard to replace in V6 RAV4 vs coolant.

Also, for the record, the pink coolant is actually 50k/5years coolant after the initial first 100k/5 years. I will be replacing coolant in my RAV4 at only 40k as it's over 5 years. Thus, pink is not that beneficial for me.
