I got one of those longacre openers and gave it a test run. Love the way it easily opens the filter.
I took a few pics..M1-301 EP filter, truck is spec for the smaller m1-204 but I prefer the larger 301. This was run with RP 10w30 for 11,200 miles, I changed it out about a month ago. 2004 dodge ram 1500 5.7 hemi.
My oil gets dark fairly quick since I bought it with 52K miles, no matter which brand I use..I use synthetics, mostly m1, but RP also when I get it cheap and several runs on
Edge titanium and PP .

Looks good! I wouldn't worry about the color changing in the oil. It is no longer an indicator of "worn" oil.

My car does it, too within the first few hundred miles and I bought it brand new. How flexible was the ADBV after that many miles?

I just twisted it and pulled on it to check. Seems very flexible and intact, but I wouldn't know what to compare it to.

This was run with RP 10w30 for 11,200 miles, 2004 dodge ram 1500 5.7 hemi now with 192K miles. I don't usually use a 10w oil but got 3 gallons very cheap and ran it through the hot months till recently.
