One strut making squishy sound

I replaced all my struts and shocks with kyb gr2s about 8k miles ago. The front left strut just started making a squishy sound when going over large bumps. It seems like it is still damping properly but how come the other strut does not make this noise? Do these have a long break in period or something?

I put gr2's on my previous car and they made a gassy noise when compressing for over 20k miles...... Then I sold it. But they were fine so it might just be the way they are.

Just replaced the original rear gas shocks with KYBs on my Bimmer and I'm impressed so far, but then anything would be an improvement over the totally blown and badly leaking originals after a long road trip.

You've got a good ear to detect which corner the sound is coming from or is that the sound the strut makes when you jack up the left front corner? I'm not a damper expert but if it's making a noise I'm inclined to think it's not a good thing.
Is there a warranty on the struts (I haven't even checked if there is on the dampers I just bought)? I'm sure there must be so I'd live with them for a while to see if the sound continues.
If does then I bring it to the attention to the retailer you bought them from.

It actually seems to be working better now that it is making that noise. I can tell its the front left because i sometimes dont hit speed bumps head on.

It is weird that only one of the shocks is doing it. They seemed extremely stiff when i first got them but i think they are softening up now

I have KYB GR2 struts on my Highlander and they are great; no noise, no leaks, and a comfortable ride. The struts are great, made in Japan and are gray in color.

I was so impressed with them that I bought KYB GR2 struts for my CRV. I was scared when the shipment came as they were made in Taiwaan and were black in color. I installed them and in less than 10,000 miles one of the front struts made a strange wooshing noise and both front struts developed leaks. I since changed the struts on the CRV to Bilstein struts.

Oh man i hope thats not the case. Really cant afford to replace them again

KYB struts have a lifetime warranty.

Indeed. But i had the work done out of state so i cant just take it back to the shop.


Also, my urethane control arm bushings were making an extremely loud creaking noise a week ago so i lubricated them with triflow. Maybe what im hearing now is the sound of those bushings since i dont hear the same creak anymore.

I had Rancho shocks on my GMC that made the squishy sounds, but they always worked good.
