We recently started hearing some noises from the attic, crunch-crunch scritchy-scritchy type noises. I figured it was rats. I got some rat traps and put them in various areas near where we had heard noises. Caught one yesterday, and all has been quiet since. Is it possible to have an infestation of one rat?

Yes, but...try to figure out how it got in or you will eventually have more.

Highly unlikely. For every 1 rat you see or catch there is usually 3 you cant see.

I would suspect more than one. Keep checking the trap. Is any bait gone? One could have made his way in looking for a winter home.
