Got a late 60s/early 70s jacobsen garden tractor with a cast iron hydrostat. I got it from the FIL, it was his fathers.

I'd like to change the hydrostat fluid, what is it? Standard hydraulic fluid???

Thanks

I found the following statement:

Texaco transhydral #2209 or Ford Motor Co. #M-2C41-A which became New Holland Multi G134

Pennzoil recommends a replacement equivalent "DEXRON®-III MERCON®".

Eaton recommends hydraulic oil equal to SAE20, they use to recommend 10w but found it to be to thin.

OK, for those that might have a suggestion, does ATF sound right? I have another eaton manual that also calls for ATF as an option. Comments?
