Been taking a ARED 2 from Nature Made for a year or so, along with my daily multi. . It says vision on the bottle. I no longer need glasses. Sometimes use them on the phone but that's about it.

Both of my parents had cataract surgery, so lucky me down the road. I've heard selenium is the most underrated nutrient and important for eye health and spoke of selenium on here before. I learned about Brazil nuts from a member post.
Every retinologist is an opthalmologist but not every opthalmologist is a retinologist. A retinologist specializes in the retina and this is who you want for diagnosing and treating macular degeneration. Optometrists can do very basic eye exams and they can refract a person and prescribe corrective lenses. You can't correct poor vision from macular degeneration with glasses because it's there's no refractive error involved. There are telescopic lens implants that project light onto an unaffected area of the retina but you don't even want to know because of all the complications.

I can’t read my phone or anything else from about 18” awayI saw a retinologist after I had my eye stroke. Some ophthalmologists specialize in the front cornea and cataracts and some specialize in the back of the eye with the retina. I go every 6 to 12 months for a glaucoma screening to a regular ophthalmologist as I'm at higher risk now due to the eye stroke. Luckily, after about 20 visits, they only done diagostics. I've never received any treatments.
For macular degeneration they inject a cancer drug into the eye. It seems to work well.
There are so many specialists. Specialists for the nerves of the retina. Specialists for the vitreous. Specialist for the eye muscles. Glaucoma specialists will do things an ophthalmologist doesn't do. For example, they can do more elaborate OCTs and other diagnostics and they have treatment options like stents, glaucoma valve implants, and intraocular lens implants. Cornea specialists can diagnose cornea issues and problems with the sclera and conjunctiva. I had to see a cornea specialist after someone tried skewering my eye with a rusty barn tool. I got very lucky with no lasting damage. I have posted about this before.
Those are anti-VEGF drugs, vascular endothelial growth factor receptor blockers that were originally developed to fight cancer. They prevent abnormal blood vessel formation in the retina and also stop capillaries from leaking fluid into the retina. This makes them highly suitable for the treatment of wet AMD. Application is either via regular injections into the eyeball or via a Port Delivery System, an implanted refillable drug reservoir that is topped off every 6 months.
