Only one way to find out for sure. Even if it looks Ok on the outside, who knows besides Superman using X-ray vision what it looks like inside.

What's the eBay seller's price?

I highly doubt there is anything wrong with that filter, assuming it resided in the original box since it was manufactured. (And who would store a oil filter in something other than its original box?)

The only exception I would make is if it had ever gotten wet, which I doubt because the box would show some evidence of that.

That does look like the box for the last white can purolator I recall using back when they were having um.....integrity issues. I wouldn't put a white can purolator on a lawn mower.

Why risk it? Just buy a new filter that was manufactured within the last 12 months. Even if that filter is perfectly okay, it's from another era. I would err on the side of caution. Cars, engines, they aren't cheap. Filters on the other hand are still affordable.

If it was already sitting on your shelf, then sure, use it, but there is no reason to order it off e-bay for an unknown condition filter.
I am sure there are plenty of options available local for not all that much.
For <$3, you can run to Walmart and get a Supertech ST3387A filter.

This is a good point. Just go to Wal-Mart and you can buy all the oil filters you want in several different brands. All for a good price. And they're all straight from the factory. No need to mess with E-Bay.

I always liked the blue box,its advertising.97.5% at 20 microns is very good!white filter.nwver used one .
Seller is selling for $3.00. Offered $2.60. sh $5.95.its too much for that filter. Just really wanted too run one but know it's risk. The media is cellulose multi layer not synthetic.so Thier a chance media is deteorated.wanted too show n ask here everyone's expertise.fun days of Purolator are gone.used too get those filters Walmart for $3

$8.55 is about $9 more than it is worth! I would only use one for a super short flush OCI, they're too flimsy to run for long.

I know.i already knew it was way overpriced. I never used one of those puros.but always wanted too.its a one time thing3,400 or 3,700 mile use in 6 month timeframe thing.

Shame you're not a little closer, I have some Purolator Classic white box filters that I will likely donate to a charity mechanic (in Covington, KY) that does oil changes & other work for single mothers, elderly/disabled people, and other people that need car help. Don't have any L10111s, though.
