Oils that you've never used

I haven't tried Amsoil yet, though the price and availability aren't bad. Perhaps someday down the road. I've never tried PP or PU (obviously, availability and price up here) or the latest Edge (at $13.99 a litre on closeout, I don't think so).

I haven't tried Red Line or any of the actual European brands either. I've seen Motul, but it's worse than Edge.

I've used a lot of MaxLife, but never had the chance to try VWB. That's mainly due to the timing of sales more than anything else. With their being no Ashland distributor around here and me tired of chasing Walmart's idiotic rollbacks, I'm unlikely to get the chance, either.

The other one I've had little chance to try are the Chevron and Havoline stuff. They have limited distribution up here, and much of their visibility is at Partsource. They're regular price is good, but they are too rarely rolled back. Oh, and I need to try Petro-Canada stuff yet; I have enough points I won't have to pay for any for a long time.

There's not much I would explicitly boycott (except those oils that would warrant a PQIA warning or are total unknowns and uncertified).

I'll tell you what I have used:

M1 + AFE + EP in 5W-20, OW-30, 5W-30 and 15W-50.
PP in 0W-20,5W-30 and 10W-30.
PYB in 10W-40.
Shell Fire and Ice 10W-40.
Gold Circle 10W-40 (who remembers this discount chain?)
QTP in 5W-30 and 10W-30.
QSB in 10W-40 and 15W-40.
GTX in 5W-20, 10W-40 and 20W-50.
Chevron Delo 15W-40.
Arco in 10W-30, 10W-40 and 30W.
Castrol Tection 15W-40.
Rotella 5W-30 and 10W-30.
Exxon Superflow syn 5W-30.
ST syn 5W-30.
ST 10W-40.
VWB 5W-20.
VML 5W-30, 10W-30, 10W-40 and 20W-50.
VNG 10W-40.
VMLNG 10W-30 and 10W-40.
VDB 10W-40.
Synpower 5W-30 and 10W-30.
Syntec 0W-30, 5W-30 and 5W-50.
Edge (gold bottle API SM) 5W-30.
Meijer house brand syn 5W-30.
G-Oil 5W-30.

I have, but have yet to use:

Delvac 1300 15W-40.
Chevron Sumpreme syn 10W-30.
Ultra w-30.
QSUD 5W-30.
Amsoil SSO 0W-20.
Formula Shell 10W-40.

I think that's all, although there are probably some I've either forgotten about over the past thirty years or some still in the stash I've forgotten.

It's easier to say which I have tried. That would be PYB, Havoline, and Castrol. Those are the 3 my dad believed in, and I've pretty much settled on Pennzoil as my go-to oil.

I have used Valvoline, Amsoil, Repsol, Briggs & Stratton-branded and am about to use G-OIL Bio-Full Synthetic.

Haven't tried anything else I can think of.

Dunno don't really keep up with trivial things like what brand I've used, defiantly not any boutique oils that were not given to me(includes one change of Amsoil)... In this climate there's not enough difference in 99% of the oils to make a real difference...

I never used any engine oils from a dealership
The only engine oils from European companies I ever used were Castrol products
I never used Mag1
I never used Coastal
I never used Brad Penn because I view it as a specialty oil
I never used any Lucas engine oil or additive
I never used any store brand oil except for NAPA. I only used NAPA occasionally when they were selling at at a big discount
I never used any ConocoPhillips oil
I never used anything named BP, but I have used Castrol

I remember when I helped out my dad with his Regal, I tried any number of conventional 10W-30s and even a few semi synthetics. It had a recommended 3000 mile severe service interval and changes were easy. It needed no crush washer (gasket was built into the bolt) and AC PF47s were cheap and easy to find. I believe on that one car I probably used:

Pennzoil YB
Valvoline All Climate
Mobil conventional
Havoline
AC Delco
Chevron Supreme
Formula Shell
Castrol GTX
Castrol Syntec Blend
Kendall GT-1
Quaker State
Trop-Artic Semi-Synthetic (from Dollar Tree)

Of course for my cars it's almost always been Mobil 1 with maybe the exception of some Pennzoil YB and Mobil Drive Clean during the first 10K miles.

I've used:

Pennzoil
Castrol
Mobil
Quaker State
Valvoline
And a few others, I can't think of. It's too early in the morning for this.

LOL, I stick with what I know and like.

I pretty much stick with Pennzoil PP, Mobil 1 and Castrol Edge as one of them is always on deal somewhere and they seem to do the job. No intrest in Quaker State or Valvoline. Maybe would try Amsoil, RP or Redline if it readily available and on sale.

Ive used:

PYB
QSGB
QSUD
PP
PU
M1
M1 EP
Havoline/Chevron
Maxlife
MS5K
Rotella
Delvac
Delo
Kendall
German Castrol
Castrol GTX, HM, and Edge

on many different vehicles

I've pretty much used everything except Amsoil, Motorcraft and PU. Never used any HDEO either like Rotella. I used to love Kendall back in the day when it was more available, heck I would use it now if I ran into it at Walmart. I don't go out of my way to buy any oil.

I've used

Castrol GTX, Blend, HM, Edge
Valvoline WB, Maxlife, Synpower
Pennzoil YB, HM, Platinum
Quakerstate HM, Syn
Mobil HM, 1
Havoline dino
Motorcraft blend

So pretty much everything else goes in the "haven't used" category.

Which oil did your Dad's Regal like the most?
