Also I want to add that Amsoil clearly says:
Quote:
Not recommended where an API GL-4 or GL-5 gear oil is required.

thanks, never looked at it from that angle. Had to hold my head kind of tilted but I see it now. H-D oil is (incorrectly) labeled GL-1, but tests out at GL-3 because of the additives, so a-oil, in an attempt to attract H-D customers follows suit

I see some folks who are also Asoil reps offering up lots of good information. They are a great part of this board and the healthy discussions by intelligent folks each day.
If I were one of these folks, especially one that is paying for a sponsorship, I would absolutely hate the help I would be recieving from all of the other "reps" lurking with an arsenal of cut-n-pastes and endless arguments at the ready.

You're exactly right. The Amsoil sponsors we have are responsible posters who are dedicated to advancing the quality of the discussions on here and not just hawking their wares. The other "reps" you mentioned--and one in particular--will never be BITOG Site Sponsors if I have any say in the matter simply because of their carnival barker, canned "Use Amsoil" responses that comprise 99% of their posts.

cfromc,
Our Sporty only has about 700 miles on it so I haven't tried it yet. I'm guessing Formula+ is factory-fill anyway. Since Harley lubricants seem to be over priced and rather "average", I was hoping to find a synthetic product to use instead.![]()
