I have a high mileage gmc safari '04 pushrod v6 that calls for 5w30. It has 172k miles and i'm going to switch to valvoline high mileage semi-synthetic 10w30. I'm wondering if it would be beneficial to upgrade to a 40 weight oil due to the high miles? I know the clearances get larger over the miles. I was just thinking a 40w oil would take up some of the slack. I also am starting to get a couple of seconds of lifter tap at cold startup. Thanks for the input.
