Oil Suggestion for New Guy

That is odd. I'm guessing there is some confusion in the literature that's available to the oil companies and the like. Maybe a vehicle specific forum might have a TSB or something from the manufacturer, or some other explanation as to the confusion.

I just checked the Amsoil site, and it's always a great place to find recommendations and capacities. Strangely enough, it says API 5w-30 meeting Ford specification WSS-M2C205-A but that there is no Amsoil product recommendation. Something is clearly wrong here, and it's got to be with the data. Amsoil makes plenty of API type lubes and plenty that target European applications. Something in the data stream has slipped through the cracks.

That spec is from around the GF-3 time, and plenty of SM and earlier oils that I've found on Google meet that Ford specification. According to this link, credit to unDummy, there's not much to it beyond GF-3, if anything, so we're not looking at a special oil here. It doesn't have to be synthetic or have a high HTHS, or any weird SA content, so we're not looking at any specialty lube here, just normal API/ILSAC 5w-30.

The GTX would do fine, as would PP, PU, PYB, M1, or just about any other certified 5w-30 you could throw at it. For some unknown reason, the application data for your vehicle has just become convoluted somewhere along the line, and not enough people have raised a stink to get it corrected.

Since when is conventional oil only good for 3,000 miles.
I read Mobil super is gauranteed good for 5,000 miles and certainly all othe major brands are as good. I do agree that
synthetic is better over this OCI. Also Pureone's are excellent filters for all but the the most greuling conditions.
