From reading these forums, 3 oils seem to stand out for me.
1) Pennzoil conventional, especially the new one. Costs $12.50 at Walmart for 5 quarts
2) Motorcraft Synthetic Blend. Costs $10.50 at Walmart for 5 quarts
3) Pennzoil Platinum. Costs $20.50 at Walmart for 5 quarts.
So the first question I have is that a highly rated synthetic blend sells for less than a highly rated dino. Who amongst you would choose Pennzoil conventional over MC blend and why? It's more expensive and it's not synthetic. Would you choose it now because of GF5 or would you have chosen it even when it was a GF4
The second question then is why pay almost double for a full synthetic? Would you do more mileage on PP then MC blend then Pennzoil conventional? If so how much more?
Personally I don't want to change the oil myself so if full synthetic lets me go 50% further say 7500 miles instead of 5000 miles, then I do 2 syn oil changes instead of 3, and save time and money at my mechanic.
