422k mileage (highway miles)

It alway been used any brands of conventional oil. But this time I needed higher viscosity conventional oil because engine been leaking for long time and I hate to see oils drops on my drive way. I was thinking of buying liqul moly motor oil saver plus whatever deals going on at the auto part stores on oil& oil filter ads.

Don't waste money on additives. Thicker oil won't help leaks. A high mileage oil might help with leaks.

If you don't like leaks then fix the leaks.

I run Pennzoil platinum in a Toyota with that much mileage. Oil reports come back fantastic. I've used it from 300K to 400+

My vote will of course go in favor of the max life as well. Congrats on that mileage too, most folks won't even see 100k on a vehicle before they trade it in

I would do what you have been doing for all those miles, you did a great job. I wouldn't pay attention to anyone's suggestions in your situation. But at those miles, I doubt anything will stop those leaks, could make matters worse. I used Max life one time on my high mileage vehicle and the leak got much worse.

Did it lessen when you switched back?

Huh? There's at least two versions; 5w40 MB 229.3 and 10w40 MB 229.1.

No choice of oil or additive will affect your leaks. Once a leak has started, it will continue forever.

The ONLY way to fix those leaks is to replace the seals and gaskets that are leaking.

Why not just fix the leaks right? Dumping all sorts of snake oil into the engine in an attempt to fix something is foolish.

No harm in running MaxLife, it is a very good oil.

No harm in trying LM motor oil saver...

If it doesn't work, it doesn't work.

What I wouldnt do is spend money fixing expensive leaks on a 422k mile vehicle. At that age and mileage, at least to ne, it becomes a "just deal with it" sort of situation.

Open a big cardboard box, and park over that, and keep on driving it. Run down to your local Home Depot, and buy some of the Formula Shell for $9.88 per 5 quart jug. Sale price is good through tomorrow.
