What oils do you guys recommend that are similar in moly & quality of Redline 5w30? I have a fleet of Toyota cars & trucks that I run Redline in, but have lost my "connection" to buy it at a great price. So I need to find another oil. Full synthetic, I'm looking at Penzzoil Ultra Platinum or Castrol Edge or something else. I do lots of freeway & city driving. About 400-700 miles a week. Central California weather with runs to Los Angeles. No oil consumption issues with any of the cars, but all have over 100,000 miles.

Using other brands of oils & the same driving patterns over the last 5 years,I've had the best MPG with Redline. I was thinking the moly was giving me the best MPG & low wear. I'm still in spec on my valve adjustment & almost perfect compression on all the engines with 204,000 miles on my highest mileage car

Wouldn't be too surprised about the MPG thing, but I don't see why you'd need moly to get similar benefits.

For fuel economy, the best thing to do is to use the thinnest possible oil that still meets or exceeds the spec your car needs. For example, if I had a car that called for API SM xw-30, I'd use something like Mobil 1 Advanced Fuel Economy 0w-30. No need to stick to a specific brand.

Toyotas dont require anything special..conventional will work...i use M1, PP, PUP or TGMO. Any oil that meets specs will work great.

If you just want the high moly levels you could use PYB - for something similar to Redline, look at Motul, Schaeffers, Millers and Gulf. They all make 'race' oils with high moly, high phos and hi film strength..

Why don't you just become a Redline dealer since you service your own fleet? You don't need to sell to the public.

It's such benign use and conditions that I'd go with any major syn, and if I was really itching for moly, I'd use some bio-tech in there.

Stop wasting money on Redline or any other oil like Amsoil or Royal Purple. Go pick up some synthetic off the Walmart shelf & be done with it, save money.

To get away from commentary and back to your original question:

With those driving habits in your position I'd consider Amsoil. It's less expensive than Redline (if you don't have a special price dealer). Yes, I'm an Amsoil fan but the SS is designed for extended use and your driving style is great for longer OCIs. Our '04 Wrangler had a new head gasket at 168k and the internals were spotless after using Amsoil since 20k with OCIs up to 12000 miles (could have gone further). I still regret not taking pictures.

With the amount of driving you do, the $20/year preferred customer charge would pay for itself in short order.

How long were you running the Redline?
