Oil recommendation for 2012 VW Passat TDI

Gonna do my first change on the GFs TDI. So help me not mess this up. From what I have read I need a 507.00 spec. Looks like Mobil 1 ESP 5w30 will work, as well as Castrol Edge 5/30. I'm kinda partial to oil I can buy at Wal Mart. Any help appreciated.

Chances of finding a 507.00 oil at Wal-Mart is essentially zero. I've seen it available at NAPA, AutoZone etc. They could have LiquiMoly 507.00 oils too.

I usually buy it online a few weeks before an oil change.

PEPBOYS still has Mobil 1 ESP. Saw it a couple days ago.

NAPA has sale on Mobil 1. If local NAPA does not carry Mobil 1 ESP 5w30 they can order it for you. It is $5.99 per liter (it is killing deal).
You can go to Amazon and order Mobil 1 ESP 5w30, Pennzoil Platinul Euro etc. Any oil that meets VW 504.00/507.00 will do.
However, finding that oil in Wal Mart is impossible.

He can get that Castrol in VW dealership. It is nothing special and Castrol as usual is very shady with pds on this oil. From pds both Mobil 1 ESP 5w30 and Pennzoil Platinum Euro 5W30 are better oils.

As said your best chances locally are the dealer, Napa or pep boys.

Amazon has plenty of 507 compliant oils

The cheapest is probably this Total Quartz Ineo
