Gonna do my first change on the GFs TDI. So help me not mess this up. From what I have read I need a 507.00 spec. Looks like M1 ESP 5/30 will work, as well as Castrol Edge 5/30. I'm kinda partial to oil I can buy at Wal Mart. Any help appreciated.

Chances of finding a 507.00 oil at Wal-Mart is essentially zero. I've seen it available at NAPA, AutoZone etc. They could have LiquiMoly 507.00 oils too.

I usually buy it online a few weeks before an oil change.

NAPA has sale on Mobil1. If local NAPA does not carry M1 5W30 ESP they can order it for you. It is $5.99 per liter (it is killing deal).
You can go to Amazon and order M1 5W30 ESP, Pennzoil Platinul Euro etc. Any oil that meets VW 504.00/507.00 will do.
However, finding that oil in Wal Mart is impossible.

Amazon has plenty of 507 compliant oils

The cheapest is probably this Total Quartz Ineo
