I'm pondering the thought of Schaeffers Series 9000 0w-20, with a Fram Ultra. Thinking of just ordering from Amazon.com (prime member). Wondering about long term benefits or am I just wasting money. Again I will be following the OLM either way, especially under warranty.

Possibly Schaeffers will provide better fuel economy and protection. 2.63 HTHS kinda concerns me though. I have plenty of time to decide, vehicle only has 150 miles on it. Only had it 5 days. It was built 8/16.

Was thinking of running Amsoil Sig. Series, but one of the ingredients (????) exceeds the limits allowable for Dexos1. Also concerned about Low Speed Pre Ignition LSPI, with the "wrong" oil.

Mobil 1, Pennzoil, Castrol etc. all available at Walmart for a great price. You can pick up the Ultra filter there as well. I'd even get TGMO before some of those other options you've mentioned. It's blended for Toyota by Mobil. All have a long proven record. You don't want to be willy nilly with this thing, time to be a rough neck or a rough rider.

You won't notice any fuel economy difference in a Suburban and a 5.3 with any 0w20. I'd pickup the cheapest 0w20 Dexos approved oil and a factory filter when it's time to change the oil.

In the meantime, let the factory fill do its thing, relax and enjoy the truck.
