After all my complaints about oil pries here in Canada, we're actually getting some good sales at Walmart, at least on conventional. A lot of the 5 litre jugs are on sale around the $10 mark. The individual litres are $4 plus, though.

As for synthetics, that's another story. You got a 5 quart jug of Pennzoil Platinum for $20.50. PYB, which is currently not on sale at Walmart, is something like $19.99 for 5 quarts. I didn't look at the Platinum; I was checking to see if Ultra came up here yet, and it did not.

I wanted to try GC for my next change, so I ended up paying $8.97 a litre. They need that stuff in the 5L jugs.

Got some Pennzoil Platinum 5w-30 for $20.50 today also. I was gonna go with Castrol Syntec 5w-30, but I had just read on here that Platinum is considered very good and for a good $4-6 bucks cheaper, I decided to go for it.

Walmart is the only game in town to buy cheap oil in the Buffalo area.

The auto part stores charge much more, and you only get a 1 gallon jug instead of 5 quarts.

I was shopping today, Supertech is indeed up to $10 per 5 quart jug. They have priced themselves too high to make it a value.

Why would anyone ever buy that when Quaker State is $10.50, and Mobil 500 is $11?

I'm sticking with Quaker State here on 4-5k 6 month runs..

Nice find. Glad I got in on the Kragen Synpower deal and stocked up. Have enough on hand to take me to the end of 2011.

Wow, didn't see this coming. Guess I'll stock up on QS and MC5k.

IMO individual quart jugs are more convenient and you need not have to stand in a long line at the counter unlike at wally w.

Thanks for the link. You are right, I can get a couple of the QS oil special deals that comes with a filter. MC5k and Havy DS for $2 is great. I think that the O-Reilly filter is made by Purolator right?

Hard to top $2/quart nowadays for a name brand. I might grab some Mobil Clean and a Wix filter, and switch to it for 5 months/~5000 miles from November-April. . . .

Are you guys kidding?

These are just the start of the jump in prices. Granted, at least it won't be as nuts as last time.....

M1 is heading for 25 bucks very soon...PP 23.50

Someone posted that they scored a 5qt jug maxlife synthetic for $9 at Walmart. Then got $7 back at engineguarantee.com

Valvoline seems to be ready to bring something new to the market.

I saw the same prices today at a suburban Cincy Wal-Mart. I'll add that Motorcraft 5w-20 was now $12 per jug versus the recent $11.50 price.
