This is mostly in regard to Mobil's Clean 5000/7500 and Extended Performance. Does anyone else besides myself see their advertising as flawed? Don't you they they should really be advertising "will last up to 5000" "up to 7500" and "up to 15000".... Not Guaranteed to X number of miles. Because everyones driving condtions and climates are different and ever changing. I guess in some ways they do state what they consider severe service and not to drive up to the guaranteed mileage under those conditions, but it still seems to mislead the consumer and I wonder when it will come back to bite them? I'm eager to see or hear when people begin to make claims they drove the "guaranteed" mileage and toward the end of their engines life, they find it all sludged to #@$%! and back.

It's unlikely to bite them. Any mechanically sound engine will not suffer any damage from a six-month/7500 mi interval with any over-the-counter oil. Just about any over-the-counter oil can protect for that long, if not longer. Likewise, one-yr/15k miles on Mobil 1 Extended Performance may push it in some situations, but 15k miles on a full synthetic is probably OK under the conditions in which you can actually put in 15k in one year...
If the person was operating under such severe service that a shorter interval was needed, they wouldn't put in 15k miles within a one-yr period anyway.

I don't like the verbage on any of these mileage statements....if BITOG has done anything for me, it's trust a used oil analysis to get a good figure for OCI's.
The disclaimers are on the bottle and the warranty. I don't see a problem. Just read the label.
I used both Dc5000 and Dc75k. Good oils to break in a car although quite boring. I would never use them again tho.
I guarantee you'll live up to 200 years.
