Oil for RAM RHO

My buddy recently picked up RAM RHO and we were talking about oil. Manual states SN+ 0w40, Pennzoil as recommended. Would any 0w40 (like all the European 40s from major) work for his application? Are there any non-euro car 0w40s out there?

In reality any euro 30/40 would be more than enough. It may not have that chrysler ms whatever number spec but it doesn't really matter. There are many master techs that don't know the oil has an actual spec they just look at the grade and go by it. The standard output which puts out 450 lbft calls for 0w-20 but the high output with 475 calls for 0w-40 instead. Same rotating assembly and timing components. the high output has an extra gdi pump, bit more boost, and tad lower compression. Castrol 0 and 5w-40 are on sale for $23.97 at walmart so get a bunch.

Here is a spec sheet of the standard output and high output Chrysler hurricane 3.0L TT inline 6.

I was first expecting both engines to spec a 30 grade together. I was surprised to see that the standard output is spec'd for 0w-20 while the slightly more powerful high output version is spec'd for 0w-40.

Though the specs are a little different for both it's the same block and head with what I'd imagine is a provision for the second GDI pump on the valve cover. The only big changes are the dual high pressure pumps and dual inlet. With differing compression ratio and turbo pressure.

Owner's manual states 0W-40 API SP or SN+.

This sounds like a job for M1 0W-40.

First thought What the heck is a ram rho and why havent I heard of it.

That is their price AFTER incentives.. that means selling over msrp on an 87000 truck...
uh living in the past much Brunswick Ram Auto mall (Bought 3 subarus from their subaru side)

This is a ram at fred martin a high volume dealership where they had rams for 15k off in 2019/2020 ie 31k on a 46k msrp

Why do I think they arent selling too many of those.. there is a place in the market for them but it is a tiny little niche compared to people who want 40k vehicles.

They currently have ram limited for 15-17k off (ie around 70k)

The RHO was designed to be a replacement for the TRX, and yes, the pricing is NUTS.

Ok here is the 30k truck from 2020. I have to laugh at their AI generated comments.

Back on topic: M1 0w40 would be fine and available at walmart.
