Where'd you see 0W-20?

This is the first Hyundai/KIA oil chart i see 0W-XX being one of the recommendations. I'd go 5W-40 or 0W-40 but Mobil1 0W-30 wouldn't scare me away either.

Great car! Enjoy it.

0w40 is not on the v6tt chart.

No 0w20 in the chart for this motor.

But i agree with 5w40/ 15w40. I would run 5w40 rotella winter and 15w40 summer, if in a warm climate 15w 40 year round. I might go with amsoil syn 15w40.

If I run rotella think I would go with t6. I live in cincinnati.

True, 5W-40 or 5W-30 then.

Castrol edge 5w40. My turbo saab crushes oils like crazy. Ive tried all the euro spec oils the hdeos and boutiques. Ive finally settled on the castrol. I even went m1 15w50. Ymmv but as the guy who went to stinger school mentioned the biggest thing to protect are the turbos. My mitsubishi tdo4 turbo also uses bushings and i make sure to drive it nice and gentle for the last mile or two before shut off to let it cool.

Problem there is edge 5w40 is not easy to get where I live without paying 9 dollars a quart at autozone. Did you not like T6?

Make sure it’s the 5w30 fleet T6.

5w40 T6 isn’t gas rated.

I thought it did have the API cert for gas engines... The 5w40 version that is.

Yes I was going to mention 5w40 T6 no longer gas certified.

I run it in my subaru still with no reservations, but something to think about if in warranty period. If it's an oil burner the high zinc/zddp is said to effect the cat.

Ok I guess that puts it out of the mix. Will be looking for Mobil 1 or Castrol 5w40.

It used to, but that changed with the CJ4 to CK4 transition.

Delo, M1 TDT, and Delvac should still be good though.

Delo would be your cheapest and easiest to find at WM. You mentioned Castrol 5w40 being hard to find, perhaps WM can get it online. Heck, my store of all places has it.

Some 5W-40s to consider: Motul 8100 X-cess, Pennzoil Platinum Euro, Delo XSP (SN rated), valvoline MST, Delvac 1 ESP (SN rated), Liqui-Moly Top Tec 4100 or Leichtlauf.

Just checked when I was at meijer and the only 5w40 they had was valvoline. Most of the 40wt they had was 0w40. Need to check walmart next or order from amazon.

I’m amazed how few people use Amsoil. I’d use Amsoil 0W-40 and maybe thin it with some 5W-30. Both Signature Series.
For over the counter oils, I’d use Castro’s 0W-40.

Like was mentioned earlier I do not want to use 0w40 since it is not recommended by Kia for the v6. Warranty purposes.

go with any oil that has a hths of 3.6 or higher... i recommend a 5w40 of pennzoil ultra plat, redline, motul as my top 3. you wont have problems with these oils and you can count on them to provide the lubricity required for your ttv6.

enjoy the turbos!
