I recently purchased a one-owner,'91 Mustang LX 2.3L NA. It has 47k original miles and was driven by an edlerly couple before it was sold. The Owner's Guide lists 5w30 as the recommended oil. Should I use a high-mileage, conventional, blend, or full synthetic, oil? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

It depends on a lot of things...

How long do you want to go on changes? How much driving will you be doing with it? What is your climater like? Does the engine burn or leak oil?

Good place to start would be a basic conventional 5W-30 - Pennzoil, Quaker State, Valvoline, etc...drive it for 3k on the oil, and see 'how it does' - does it knock, leak, burn...

Ummm better deal... My local Advance that's within walking distance had the roof cave in from all the rain we had during tropical storm Irene... As yet it hasn't reopened, so I haven't been checking their specials...

Yup! What these guys said. I really like using Motorcraft oil and filters on my Ford's. Nice little car btw. I've had a couple.

Any quality 5W30 will work well in that engine. I wouldn't waste money on a synthetic though. Or you could run that engine dry, seize it up and put a 5.0 (or larger engine) in it. lol
