My friend asked me what oil he should use in his 1998 Mercedes ML320 v6 it has 125,000 miles on it and leaks a little oil from everywhere...

What oil and weight.. He has used mobil 1 in the past.. There was a tsb about using synthetic because of sludge.
Im leaning toward a high mileage oil but am looking for someone that may have one.. I know what the manual says and what all data says but im looking for someone that has one or has knowledge as to the oil that works best in them.

I would continue using a synthetic meeting 229.3 or 229.5 and add Liqui Moly Motor Oil Saver to it to address the leaks. Whether or not this works will depend entirely on the gasket material, however.

My Son had a 98 that was a beater. He ended up using Pennzoil Conventional 10w30. Did 3,000 mile OCI. Engine was running great when he scrapped the car for other reasons years later.
