Hey all, first post. Sorry if this has been asked already. I’ve searched this site and other sites on the web as well. With the new ecoboost in the Maverick having direct and port injection, I am unsure as to which oil the motor would benefit from the best. I know ford has certain requirement's but not sure how much weight that actually carries.

I know things like the OCI and fuel type used generally matter more for long term engine health than which brand is used. I’ve had other DI motors in the past but never both. In my 2015 5.0 f150 I just use Mobil 1 full synthetic and it’s been perfect for 98k so far but that motor is far less picky then these newer ones.

I was leaning towards AMSOIL Signature Series but am open to any others like Mobil 1 or Pennzoil. Really looking for some advice from people who have far more knowledge on this subject than me. Again sorry if this has been drug through the mud already and thanks for any help in advance.

You'd be much better off with a very well formulated low saps euro oil like Mobil 1 ESP 0w-30 and changing it frequently every 3-4k. Low saps oils especially better formulated ones control intake valve deposits better.

I’ve been considering ESP. I didn’t know if it mattered with ford recommended spec. I don’t believe it meets it but then again I don’t know if it matters. I find it surprising that Ford put an entirely different ecoboost motor in the 25+ without advertising it in the least.

does it also have GPF?
I believe it does. I remember hearing the 2025 is the first year of the maverick having the gpf and that the 3.5 will also get it soon. One less reason to get it over the hybrid which is a solid NA PFI 2.5 with an older toyota licensed ECVT with some updates and a well made hybrid pack.

I checked it out just now and it seems they updated it so now it claims to have dual injection so intake deposits aren't an issue. Though low saps should still be used anyway. Change frequently with it to prevent ring deposits and oil consumption which the gpf wants none of and if it does get oil it should be low saps.

With the dual injection would Amsoil signature series suffice or is the ESP still better? My model does not have the GPF I got lucky with a job 2 and not job 3 Maverick.

These engines make extensive use of the port fuel injectors. Your intake valves will remain as clean as any port fuel injected engine using quality fuel and oils. The Ford spec'd oil, WSS-M2C961-A1, is a fairly generic and normal specification. An excellent oil for your situation, that is commonly available at WalMart, is Mobil 1 Extended Protection 5w30. It has plenty of AN base stock for perfectly clean internals, and superb tolerance to turbocharger heat. There are other excellent 5W-30 oils (that don't meet the Ford spec) some with even higher HTHS viscosity including the Euro flavors of Mobil 1 5W-30. However, the Mobil 1 Extended Performance variety is simply an excellent choice for your engine (zero deposits, unbeatable for turbos), while meeting the specification for warranty. Change it frequently, regardless of what the oil container might claim.

I appreciate the reply. I’ve always run synthetic in my motors since I started driving. I’ve had numerous boosted motors in my life but only one DI. A Mazdaspeed3, I actually ran rotella in that and it loved it. These newer port/DI motors confuse me a bit as far as requirements and oil has changed a lot since I paid attention to them.
