Oil for 2022 Gladiator with 3rd Gen 3.0L EcoDiesel

TRIAX Euro VX 5W-40 Full Syn Engine Oil

is a Euro spec oil made in the USA that is listed as ACEA C3 & API SN. It is an ester based oil and with a TBN of 10 has an extended service life up to 25K miles supposedly. It does not have the MS-12991 rating (their Euro LX oil has the MS-12991 rating but it's not C3 rated). Curious on your thoughts about using this oil in the Gen 3 EcoDiesel in my 2022 Gladiator.

I really like Triax Oil's. Been running some of their 75w-140 synthetic gear oil in the f350. More affordable than other name brand oils.

Several of the Triax recommendations are “meets or exceeds”, and does not carry the actual certification, I.e. they claim some of the MB or Porsche certs but are not actually listed as approved on MB/Porsche website. Going to a 2nd tier brand, I’d make sure it carried the actual cert, especially when there are plenty of top-name brands that actually have the certs for the same price. 👍🏻

After talking with Triax, their Euro LX 5w-40 oil meets all the specifications (API SP & MS-12991) plus it is a mid-SAPS oil too. So I placed an order to try it. Note: this is different than the Euro VX oil in the previous pictures which is a C3 oil. Attached is a picture of the specs for the Euro LX 5w-40 oil.

Please follow up with a UOA after your run if you can.

I think I would like to do that (for my own sanity <smile>). I've never done this before...any link or description of the proper procedure?

-Capture mid-drain?
- What kind of container?
- Anything else to know?

Yes, wait a 10 seconds or so after drain starts then slip the bottle that comes with a UOA kit in the stream. Fill it at least 3/4 full. They'll include a paper to fill out, ship it back the the lab, & then wait for an email of your results.

One wonders sometimes what the motivation is regarding this brand when low-cost alternatives exist which actually have the approvals they claim to have.
If you know of an oil with these approvals that is mid-SAPS, please advise.

Which approvals? Do you mean MS-12991? That’s a material specification, not an approval. And not one that I’d be concerned about given manufacturer approvals and what they require.

Many oils have the approvals that Triax lists but does not have. Which ones are you asking about?

Are any of these oils you have in mind mid-SAPS oils that are DPF friendly? Or are they high-SAPS oils?

I love how that bottle has multiple conflicting claims of compliance for approvals that apply to totally different ACEA categories.

That's not a mid-SAPS oil, that is full SAPS. A3/B4 is a full-SAPS spec and 1.2 for SA is in the middle of the 0.9-1.6% range.
