Gonna change the oil into 2013 ford sho soon. It has the turbo di 3.5 motor. Out of the normal synthetic oils of Mobil 1 or EP. PUP and castrol edge gold bottle. What would be your choice and why.

Will be reusing the Napa premium filter that is on there now.

The car is tuned and all types of driving done making racing, mountains, and both short and long trips. Will be winter soon. Planning on using 5w30

Any certified oil is more than capable in your application.
However there's a Honda turbo spec that might apply and perhaps look to see if your choices meet that cert.
If by chance one of those products don't carry the Honda cert cross it off

I wouldn't bother with an extended performance oil. You won't be extending any intervals thus there's no gain achieved for the added expense.
Mobil 1 / Pennzoil Platinum / Quaker State Ultimate Durability are all fine choices. You might want to get a few uoa done to establish a proper interval though. If you are going to be beating on it a standard interval won't work.
Unless it's got an oil life monitor. It will compensate for your driving habits.
If no mm a used oil analysis is the only way to see for sure
It might be smart just to get a series of used oil analysis done anyway. They can help you if any anomalies present themselves.

Yeah. That's it. Thank you. If one of your options doesn't carry that certification then pass on it.
I'm not saying that Honda spec is the be all to end all for a boosted engine, only that having it does provide a known standard and performance characteristics a boosted engine may benefit from.

A guy here had a decent UOA with Castrol 5w30.

Thermo-Oxidation Engine Oil Simulation Test (TEOST, ASTM D6335)
Motor oils can form deposits when exposed to increased heat, reducing efficiency and contributing to poor
overall performance. According to the ASTM, the TEOST test method “is designed to predict the high temperature
deposit forming tendencies of an engine oil. This test method can be used to screen oil samples or as a
quality assurance tool.”1
Given the number of vehicles now equipped with direct fuel injection, turbochargers
and other performance-enhancing technologies that increase heat, deposit control has taken on increased
importance. To meet the API SN Resource Conserving and ILSAC GF-5 motor oil specifications, a 5w30
motor oil must limit total deposit formation to 30 mg or less.

SynPower - theory is low TEOST scores are best when looking to combat IVD. SynPower is cheaper than the first place Edge Gold and much cheaper/easier to find than second place Amsoil.

For the TEOST, the graph is on page 7?

Castrol is the lowest.. am i reading this right?

Yes... EDGE Gold scored the best. Then Amsoil and SynPower.

I guess the popular opinion is the extended perf EP oils like Mobil 1 Extended Performance and Castrol gold bottle don't help in normal length OCI's.
Several people have chimed in with that thought.
Its wrong, based on the fact that oil degrades gradually, giving the EP oils the advantage the whole way across the OCI.
Non-EP oils will degrade more sooner, leaving behind more deposits.

So the best advice is to use the best oil regardless of the OCI.
Sure EP oils "can" go longer, yet for a few bucks more leave less deposits and perform better over the entire normal OCI as dictated from the IOLM in Fords like this.

Thanks for all this info. There is so much on this site its easy to miss some of it. Defiantly leaning towards Castrol gold or synpower. Any info on what the current version ultra platinum scorers?

This makes plenty sense now. I used to think otherwise.

Edge or Mobil 1 0w-40 would be my first choice (and no, using this will not automatically void your warranty which shouldn't matter anyway since you say it is "tuned").

But if you must stick with 5w30 then Edge Gold would be my recommendation.

All of those you mentioned will do the job. Price wise, Pennzoil and mobil are running rebates right now. Nice car BTW. Pictures please.

No 0w-40 carries the HTO-06, only certain 5w30's.
But Mobil 1 0w-40 or Castrol Edge 0w-40 are good choices for summer usage. Mobil 1 0w30 in winter.

Ill try to post a photo up. Ya I'm not worried about the warranty. Just I have no oil pressure gauge to monitor the effects of the oil or various grades. But I have been thinking of using 0w-40 in the summer. The add from aap has gold castrol and Fram ultra on sale
