Oil flow?

I bought a few of wix filters today and noticed metal shavings in the threads were it screws on I was just wondering if I should be worried and which way does the oil flow

Oil flows into the filter from the outside ring of holes then through the media and exits the filter through the center hole. I carefully try to wipe the threads clean with an oiled rag,though I do not really know if it matters.

to be honest i doubt (unless the shavings were very large) that it would matter.

I've seen this on WIX and NAPA Gold filters before. Try to get the threads cleaned up and all shavings off. When you screw the filter on, they could be pushed up into the center core, which means upon start up they will go into the engine. I wouldn't want any shaving no matter how small going into the engine.

I saw this once on a Purolator. I took a small pick and peeled away the shaving.
