It's a good deal for people doing multiple oil changes on the same filter.bought an endurance FE10575 from walmart for $12.97 before tax yesterday.
You will own nothing and be happy business model. Thats what EVs are for lol. They’re just going to artificially drive up the prices on everything needed to operate and maintain ICEs until people throw up their hands, sell their vehicles, shake their fists at the sky, and climb their now-captive rear ends onto public transportation or into an EV, either of which are not fully controlled by the user.
Central planners of the 15-minute cities despise personal vehicles and the relative chaos of people being able to go where they want, whenever they want.
I don’t leave filters on for longer than one OCI. none of the vehicles I maintain have difficult to remove filters. It's a good deal for people doing multiple oil changes on the same filter.
Don't even get me started on the unreliability of CVT automatics, GDI engines, even most manufacturers in general. The only (former) consistently good ones, Toyota & Honda, seem to be losing their edge, slipping into the land of disposable junk with the rest of them! This is why the xB in my sig soldiers on, bad paint, repaired body damage in rear rusting, at 19 years old-I literally can't find anything to replace it without dropping $20K+ on an unknown, probable POS vehicle.
This, especially if you live in an area with salt and corrosion.I fear all the electronics and modules will be sending our vehicles to the crusher before the GDI system, CVT or our choice of oil filter does.
They are a decent deal like mentioned for multiple oil changes or extended OCIs.bought an endurance FE10575 from walmart for $12.97 before tax yesterday.
Your correct in that its meaningless, but that doesn't mean I need to pay First Brands 10 bucks for some stamped metal and folded celulose. It is a futile effort we fight in the grand scheme of things. Here's a thread where we're talking about the cost of filters. $3, $5, $15. What ever it may be. Over the life of the vehicle it's meaningless.
The other day I watched a South Main Auto video where Eric was repairing a ~2010 Jeep Grand Cherokee that had gauge cluster issues. The root cause was a pin rotted off the front body control module. You'd never know there was corrosion issues on this connector had he not unplugged it to investigate. Worse yet. This BCM is discontinued and probably has been for some time. You're only way to fix it is find a (good) junkyard unit and hope you can find a shop with the knowledge, willing to go through all the Stellantis subscription services to get a used BCM to work with your vehicle.
I fear all the electronics and modules will be sending our vehicles to the crusher before the GDI system, CVT or our choice of oil filter does.
Might be better off just ordering filters by the case, if you have a filter size that’s harder to find. Then it'll ship in the manufacturers box. RockAuto sells some filters like this. They are a decent deal like mentioned for multiple oil changes or extended OCIs.
My issue is my WalMart hardly stocks anything to the point that going there looking for a specific filter or oil can be a huge waste of time and fuel (30 min each way). I previously ordered filters online from Amazon, but I had to return so many of them from damage that it turned into a big hassle. I then began ordering them from WalMart online, but somehow that also became a nightmare. 3 filters in a month that were "returned to shipper" for damage, and then I never heard or saw anything and the package status is "delayed" indefinitely. I guess I'll try Rockauto next. Maybe I should be running extended filter changes so I don't have to deal with these shipping nightmares as often.![]()
RockAuto has them for normal prices. But eBay is also a great place to look.If you can get them from Rockauto for a normal price, it's "greedflation" on Walmarts part.
Lots of socially awkward people on BITOG think a particular vendor is their loyal friend who will never do them wrong.
WM is still a good source of oil and car batteries though. They're my buddy there.
I guess this is a situation of putting the hamburger on sale, then selling the buns for $5.
Not to worry, only do 2 oil changes a year on a vehicle, spend thousands on a car and to sweat over a couple of dollars on an oil filter.I remember just 2-3 years ago the Extra Guards being about $4, the Tough Guards being $6, & the Ultras being $8. With these prices, I usually buy my filters from Rural King, or order a few at a time from eBay. Prime Guards are $2.99, & the Fram Ultras are $8.99 at Rural King.

I don't really use any special filters, but getting the correct filters (like having them even show up) or not showing up damaged and having to return them seems to be my biggest issue.Might be better off just ordering filters by the case, if you have a filter size that’s harder to find. Then it'll ship in the manufacturers box. RockAuto sells some filters like this.
I hear you. If I can save a few bucks by mail-ordering a few of them, that's the route I go. There's been times I'm in a pinch and have to run to the local napa or carquest and pay $12 for a filter that looks to be worth $4. I haven't been happy with the wix/affinia they carry lately, or what ever they may be at the moment.Your correct in that its meaningless, but that doesn't mean I need to pay First Brands 10 bucks for some stamped metal and folded celulose.
How on earth does a pin inside a connector rust - did the connector lose its seal, or does Jeep not use sealed connectors on the ECU?
I'm serious nothing surprises me anymore. Like lifeguards in Los Angeles making $500k. That I was surprised and maybe the beginning of not being suprised. Google records in a wealthy town in MA and the cops make 225-290k. What I think is that if the town is safe, and the inhabitants make 5X that, they're fine.Actually most people that get into politics end up making crazy money....and not from there gov salary...![]()
