So far I have stayed with the MC #1995 oil filter in my 2002 F350 Power Stroke with out any issues/compliants. I know some Power Stroke owners also use the Napa Gold which I believe is made by Wix. I know Wix makes a good oil filter. Is the MC any worse or better than the Napa Gold?

Thanks
Ruby

I've used Purolator, Motorcraft, Mobile1, WIX, K&N, and FRAM's for my Powerstrokes. I've cut them ALL open and find them to be almost exactly the same. Even the FRAM was built well. These filters are very simple in design, as in no bypass valve and no ADBV. The K&N However, did have the thickest feeling case. The Purolator Premium Plus had the thinnest feeling case.

Mobile1 says it has a synthetic blend media, so that may be a good way to go. I just put the new version on one of my Powerstrokes. So far so good.

pmwalter,

Thanks for the feedback. I just want to use a good oil filter in case the MC #1995 is not available.

Several of my Friends have SD350 7.3L PS 4x4 CC, one a 2000 and the other a 2004. They have been using the Amsoil SDF filters with the AME 15W-40. They have nothing but good things to say about them.

Btw-Both claim a 2 mpg increase with the synthetic AME.

The 2000 has way of 100,000 miles, was 116,000 last I looked early last spring and he been all over with his 5th wheel this year.

Thanks Mike for the information, but I'm interested in staying with 15w40 dino oil.
