Hey guys,

The car in question is a 95 lexus Gs300 (2jz-ge) with 186k on it. (mostly hwy driving)

So far I have done 3 auto-rx phases and it is on 2nd MMO OCI.

I know toyota engines are prone to sludging and produce alot of inert material.

What are some good oil filters that I can use?

Thanks!

Toyota OEM's are good filters, that along with Wix/Napa Gold, Pure One and others. Unless you plan on doing extended drain OCI's any of the above will serve you well.

I plan on running a 6k oci, and changing out the filter at 3k to be on the safe side

Nice car, don't see too many of those around here. I'm also a really big fan of the 90's SC300 and SC400's. I would personally run a Napa Gold or Purolator PureONE if you kept it on the full interval. At a 3,000 filter change interval, I would use a Purolator Classic or a ProLine if you have a Pep Boys near you.

Thanks guys!

quick question, where can I find the Puralator series?

ThirdYe: Before I got the GS, I actually wanted to get a 96 SC300, when I got to the dealership that had it (pearl white with only 130k) it had already been sold. ...Still, the GS has been great car and I would reccomend them to anyone!

Purolators are sold at K-Mart, Pep Boys, Advance Auto Parts and probably other stores as well. You could also buy a Bosch Premium filter at AutoZone, CSK, etc. as they're pretty much the same if not exactly the same as the PureONE, just with a different colored can.

Use the PureONE ... it's plenty good for 6K OCIs.

I think you might be able to get 6000 miles out of an oil filter. You could take the oil filter off at 3000 miles and if it is light you can just put it back on.

Since this is your 2nd OCI with MMO I would think you should have everything cleaned out of your engine.

Sounds like a good plan.

By the way, saw a nice mid 90's GS300 the other day, really liked it.

ThirdYe: If you ever get a chance to buy one , you will not regret it..they are not as quick as the Integras, but the ride makes up for the speed!..merry xmas!
