Oil & filter recommendation 2016 Yukon Denali

For engines that require ILSAC oils I always go Mobil1 5W30 Extended Performance. In my Toyota it provides excellent UOA.

Curious why the change from Edge down to Magnatec?
I was thinking about using Edge for may next OC instead of my magic elixir or Valvoline Advanced and some Magnatec as an enhancer; these two oils play well together for some reason.

Got 3 5qt jugs free from Walmart due to their mistake.

Either a Fram Ultra air filter... Which is a very good air filter. Uses fine dust testing.

Or the STP premium air filter from AZ. This filter uses fine test dust test per ISO 5011. A way tougher air filter test because it uses fine dust. 98 percent efficiency with fine dust. That's darn good.

The ACDelco filter is good, as is the Wix HD air filter offering. But, I assume that a slightly oiled, yellow Fram Ultra is very, very good (Tough Guard and Ultra Guard?). For this engine and most trucks, good choices abound.

In no particular order, I've used these on my 5.3L Chevy truck in my dusty Alaskan valley with glacial silt being blown around. I do believe these should fit the air box in his 2016 Ykon air box as well:

• FRAM TGA8755A Tough Guard Air Filter
• WIX 42488 HD Air Filter Panel for dusty areas of the world
• ACDelco GM Original Equipment A3181C Air Filter

Come to think of it, I have a mild case of adult-onset asthma because of living and breathing glacial-silt rock dust for about 20 years, that blowing down the Knik and Matanuska River valleys to the notheast and east of me. That rock dust turns to "cement" in moist lungs... thank God for a good albuterol inhaler. I might be less than 100%, but my truck engine is clean and well-off because of maintenance. In Alaska, we absolutely depend on our pickup-sized and larger trucks!

Well that interesting. Say a curious friend would like to know what was you OCI on the Escort?

I'd say for about the first 10 or so years 250K miles it got 3K mile OC's which were pretty normal for most cars at the time. After that I went to 5K mile intervals. Now I do 5K mile intervals and have 2 cars with over 200K miles. Each of them use approximately 1 quart between changes.
