I recently purchased a 2016 Yukon Denali. It has 63,000 miles on the 6.2L engine.

What would you guys recommend as the best motor oil and filter?

TIA

We don't have a best oil to recommend and there will be different opinions. It is quieter here on the weekends vs the middle of the work week. So the opinions you'd get today might be different than what you'd get on Wednesday.

I would suggest using something with a GTL base for low NOACK such as Pennzoil Platinum. Make sure it has the latest specs API SP GF6.
The Fram Ultra oil filter does an excellent job.

The air filter is more important than the oil filter. But that doesn't mean I recommend a cheap oil filter. I wouldn't use a K&N air filter myself if I seeked out maximum engine life.

Good point on the air filter. Which would you recommend?

I would NOT recommend the AC PF63 E core filters are compromised by short pleats and large plastic centertube.

I think the Fl 500S filter cross references, I would run that. Before you buy, just look down the centertube
to make sure the louvers are open. Filter peeping is a big thing here on BITOG :)

Here is what I would use: A Fram Ultra 10575. Fram updated it with the higher bypass pressure required for the Gen 5 - 6.2 liter. Here is a screen shot from Fram.com.

I've got a 2021 Tahoe with the 6.2 (L87 vs your L86). The first oil change was free at the dealership, but now that it's on my dime, I'm going to use Harvest King 5w30 from Rural King (Dexos1 G2) with a Fram Ultra XG10575.

You up near Front Royal huh ???

Dang it..... Wish a Rural King was near me too.

Either a Fram Ultra air filter... Which is a very good air filter. Uses fine dust testing.

Or the STP premium air filter from AZ. This filter uses fine test dust test per ISO 5011. A way tougher air filter test because it uses fine dust. 98 percent efficiency with fine dust. That's darn good.

I have Castrol Edge in my Silverado right now. Next up is Castrol Magnatec or Rotella Gas Truck.

Fram Ultra filter.
Curious why the change from Edge down to Magnatec?
I was thinking about using Edge for may next OC instead of my magic elixir or Valvoline Advanced and some Magnatec as an enhancer; these two oils play well together for some reason.

Any good quality oil will be fine. I had an '88 Ford Escort that was about 23 years old with 518K miles on it when I retired it. I used various brands of conventional 10w40 and cheaper filters in it and the engine outlasted the rest of the car. Even with synthetic oils and filters that are now available I'm still using conventional 10w40 and less expensive filters in all my vehicles.

Well that interesting. Say a curious friend would like to know what was you OCI on the Escort?
