That must be why it's so similar to the Japanese Honda Toyo Roki filter. Never knew that it was the same company.

Is there not an Amsoil EaO filter available? I hate to say this, but this was a lot of work to determine who is the best mediocrity in oil filters...
Again, NO affiliation with Amsoil, but why even bother with other oil filters at this point, unless, that is, there is no EaO filter available for your particular vehicle...

IT appears like the Fram TG uses more filer media than the regular Fram. In general it looks like the cheaper filters(value craft , super tech etc.) don't use as much filering media.

it is hard to say from the pictures but if you could take the media out, flaten it and measure the length you would know for sure.

If a filter has more filtering surface area (everything else being equal) I would assume the oil will have less resistance flowing through it and it would last longer.

I mostly used the Fram TG series on my 3.8liter Ford with 6k OCI for over 200k miles with no issues. I recall it did have a silicone rubber gasket but the picture looks like it doesn't. Maybey they recently dropped it to save money.

Nice work!

Good point George, is it possible that some people don't know about the EAO filter?

Filtech (also the name of other companies - making it hard to find) is Toyo-Roki

"Located in Findlay, Ohio, Filtech Inc. was established in 1989 by Toyo Roki Manufacturing Co. LTD. "

Dis be da place, playa

This Honda Filtech (Toyo Roki) looks nearly identical to the OEM Nissan filters I've been using, even the Chinese made ones I recently posted about. I've heard Denso makes the Nissan's, but it makes me wonder if these guys make them. Or maybe they just use similar designs.

A related post in another non honda titled thread that may help some people here just incase they may not see the other thread. http://theoildrop.server101.com/forums/s...ge=0#Post984514

Bought a used "certified" '02 accord back in '04. During the purchase, I asked about the existing warranty, doing my own maintenance, etc.. Dealer said to used approved oil, keep all receipts. Then suggested only using oem filters. Said that they'd seen lots of filter-related engine failures and that in many cases the warranty was being denied due to the 3rd-party filters being the culprit.

At next OC, I ordered a bunch of oem filters from manchester honda... they were the fram variety.

When those ran out, I asked the local dealer for an oem filt and noticed that the manufacturer had changed. I mentioned this, and guess what they said? Said that the were having a rash of filter-caused engine failures with the older oem filters.

Mobil 1, K&N, Supertech ,and AC Delco should all look similar because they are all made by Champion Labs, the Mobil and K&N are the better of the four though. But if you're looking for the best filter pound for pound for the cheapest price, go with Supertech. They may be inexpensive, but thats the only thing "cheap about them"
