Oil change / transmission service

This thread has no point other than to say that I did an oil change and transmission drain and fill on the Accord in my sig today. Oil and filter that went out was TGMO SN 0w20 and a Honda Genuine A02, this oil/filter combo had 5 months / 3000 miles on it (it was at about 40% or so on the MM, this is the longest I have ever gone). Oil and filter that went in was TGMO SN 0w20 and a Fram Ultra (that I will leave on for 2 OCI's providing the filter does not cause start up tick like the previous Ultra that I used did. This was also the FIRST transmission drain and fill that I performed. All others were done at the dealer. It felt pretty good knowing that I did it myself and at half the cost of the dealer. I drained out all that would come out, then 3 quarts of Honda Genuine ATF DW-1 went in. New crush washers for both oil and transmission plugs were installed. Engine and transmission run and shift as smooth as ever. Here is a quick video of the start up after the oil change/transmission drain and fill.

What did it look like and
when the was last drain and fill in miles?

No pics sorry, there was very little residue. No shavings of any kind, just left a dark tint behind on the paper towel that I wiped it on. Last drain and fill was around 10K ago.

Good to hear another person is doing it themselves. I have the same powertrain and the AT changes are a breeze.
You only need to do that every 30k from this point on and keep that oil in there until 10% on your MM or 5k-7k miles for sure.

There is also an ATF filter on top of the transmission that is easy to change and will help you sleep at night.

Im pretty conservative when it comes to preventative maintenance. I change the oil every 6 months / 5K miles / 15% MM at the most, and ATF drain and refills are done every year / 10K miles. Its so cheap to do fluid changes, and engines / transmissions are not. I have already forked over $$ to have a factory new Honda trans put in the Accord when it started to go screwy around 100K miles.

Yes, this filter has just under 20K on it. Ill probably replace it around the 150K mark.

Well tomorrow morning I plan on sending off my oil to Blackstone for a used oil analysis. I will be sure to report the report! Got a TBN this time. Oil was ran for 3000 miles / 5 months. I know many will say this is too early, and it might be. I just like to err on the side of caution with my driving style, plus it helps me sleep at night. So be looking forward to a used oil analysis report hopefully sometime later on this week.

Why even use a synthetic. Absolutely no gain whatsoever. I can't wait to see the used oil analysis.

I have said it before, I like the light start up benefits of TGMO. The oil was designed for the stop/start nature of the Prius, so Im sure it has something to offer with my daily short trip driving. I get it for under $30, so changing it every 5-6 ish months isnt breaking the bank. Also, I rarely am able to take it out on the highway to burn off moisture/fuel dilution so changing it every 5-6 months is a nice compromise. Im not changing it for mileage sake (3000 miles) but rather for time sake (5 months). I am also of the mindset that it is cheap insurance.
