Toyota's have had 2 trips since at least yr 2000. I had a 94 that didnt even have a trip odo. But yes I use trip A for mpg and trip B for oil changes. It's great when one car doesnt get driven much and you see that its only been 1600 miles in 13 mos...overdue for yearly oil change!
 
Trip B meter works great. Except when the wife resets both trip meters when she fills up the tank. Don't get me wrong, I love my wife. But she sometimes just isn't with "my" plans. ;-)

I keep a maintenance log in an Excel file. I just enter in whatever service or maintenance that's been done at a shop or in my driveway.

When I first started driving as a teenager, I just did the OCI's when the odometer rolled past those nice round numbers like 5K, 10K, 15K, etc. That is of course if I had the pocket money at the time.
