Can someone please tell me what engine oil company is abbreviated with the letters ST? I can think of a half dozen oil manufacturers that it is not, but not what it is. Also, BITOG has a page somewhere on the website that lists abbreviations and what they mean. I looked at it once, but no longer can find it. Can someone give a link to the BITOG abbreviation page? Thanks.

Ok, my turn. I feel stupid not to know this, having been around awhile. What is CP, or C&P in reference to cut open filters? Not in the glossary.

The only abbreviation you need to know is M1. JK :ROFLMAO:
Actually Mobil 1 engine oils may be # 1, but what is your opinion of Schaeffer oil's 9000 series? I understand that Red Line and Amsoil products are great too, but I am not going to pay that much when I plan to do 5000 mile or 6-month oil changes. Whatever brand, it will be a 0w-16 for warranty reasons. This has nothing to do with how I started this thread, sorry.

I have never used Schaeffer but recall reading good things about it. Do a title search.

I am not afraid of using any Full Synthetic oil especially for a 5K miles OCI if the oil meets your owner's manual (OM) recommendation or spec.

Having said that, I have been buying more and more of Euro A3/B4 oil when on sale which lately has been all Castrol.

I don't mind paying $3-5 more per 5 quarts of Euro oil (relative to ST base price) with bunch more approvals but that's my limit. So I don't have any experience with fancy oils.

5K OCI, I personally stick with M1 0W-16 for $30? if it meets your OM rather than $90? for Schaeffer.

Thanks OilUser for your opinion. I already ordered the Schaeffer 9000 0w-16 from my local Schaeffer Distributor here in Nebraska. It cost basically $10.00/quart plus tax. It is much more than a 5 liter or quart jug of most engine oils. I have used it in the past and really liked it. I could "notice a difference" in the engine performance after 200-300 miles of use. I don't understand how it happens, but it does. It could be imaginary, but I don't think so. I really enjoy this engine oil stuff. Thanks for the advice.

I hate to see phone users that type all sorts of abbreviated words. Most can't afford to buy a tablet, laptop or desktop for proper English and proper typing etiquette.

Messageboards and and non-speak-to phones are not a good pair for communication purposes. Too many members make up their own abbreviations also. I feel bad for new readers that come here.

Agree. My phone is a phone and that's it. I admit, though, I do sometimes text because my friends text me.

Another problem I see with phones is spell check or AI picking words when you start typing. Most people don't proof read before posting.
