I'l l bet 67.9% of everyone here reads these threads and, like me, says high TBN, Low TAN, Zinc, etc has not 1 clue as to what is being discussed. I am tired of being ignorant so I found some simple articles that give some understanding of for what and where all you Babylonians speak.

I just read the flash point topic. IMO flash point and volatility are related because fuel diluted oil burns off faster.

Also, synthetic oil has a has a higher fp number than dino has, so the fp number or the volatility number for virgin oil is a way to determine the class or quality of the base oils used in a finished product.

Why do 5w30 conventional tests from PQIA of current api SN oils show higher volatility than older api SM and SL showed?
