Oil and additive recommendation - low oil pressure

I see no reason not to try a 15W40 oil. Forget additives. Check with mechanical gauge.

If this has TBI then don't let it get low of gas.

I would be inclined to roll in some new bearings.

A 96 would be a vortec, not the TBI, but I think either one I sensitive to low fuel level taking out the fuel pump.

I used to see a lot less fuel pump failures on TBI engines but that's probably more to do with the low fuel pressure required to keep them running compared to the injectors on the vortec 350

If you aren't inclined to look at doing the rod bearings (which are probably what's worn) then I'd step up to a 15w-40, skip the Lucas, and see if that makes things acceptable. It'll go many more miles on that setup.
Every oil I have looked at in 15w-40 is for diesel engines. Do they make this for gas engines or is the diesel oil fine for my truck?
