Oil additives

Hello to all,

The gas price is so high here in Los Angeles I am now beginning to wonder if anyones tried those oil additives that promise better mileage? You know stuff like "Z MAX" and such? I know allot of people say these are snake oil/fake BUT has any government agency tested these products in the field?

If you look at what the the BIG 3 are doing as far as gas milage is concerned they are looking at 0W20 and 5W20 engine oils. These help meet the CAFE (Corporate Average Fuel Economy)that the Government has mandated.
If all or any of the after market additives did what they claim....then I would beleive that the major car manufacters would promote and mandate them as well!!

5/20 oil and a good tuneup and 5 pounds more air in tires and a light foot all you can do.
