Unfortunately, things have changed in the year since that story appeared. The people in power now oppose carbon-based energy sources, and the environmentalists are taking aim at the expansion of Canada's oil sands development. And they will do their best to keep our oil shale deposits untouched.

Only man going back to the stone age will make those nut cases happy...for a while. Then they will demand that we save endangered rocks...

That's a typical asinine statement from you.
Let's see if I can come up with the mirror image for you:

Only man turning the entire planet into a polluted, toxic globe covered with either humans or their waste--in the name of money-- will make these nut cases happy.

Why do I have to explain anything?
Your problem is that you constantly moan and b*tch about anything that seems remotely 'green', yet I doubt you live near a strip mine or a shale oil extraction site, or a landfill. You probably don't drink out of a sewer. You just automatically assume anything that's not allowed to [censored] something up is over-regulated and somebody's got a conspiracy going to make some cash...which is puzzling, since you're always bellowing about letting people make money.
Maybe you should visit some places in China or Eastern Europe, where they haven't had much environmental regulation and see how you like it there.

Because you are making an assertion. I guess expecting a train of logic is too much.

Sure, but not via corrupt government. I wonder how much of the conditions in China or Eastern Europe are caused by overly large and corrupt government?

Why is only one your target? You'll defend the other to the bitter end for its right to exploit, pollute, deplete, destroy ..leave toxic residuals ..yet seem to only hate the default remedy to them.

You're pointing at the wrong enemy. Socialism is Capitalism's pathetic failure to take care of wiping its own behind.

Purist ..cleanse thyself.

Only sadists would favor the above. Others would be outraged, including myself.

Then I consider...

I own a car and use gas and oil. I use electricity and water. I own things made of plastics and polymers.

If I want to see who has indirectly given others the "right to exploit, pollute, deplete, destroy ..leave toxic residuals", all I have to do is look in the mirror. Same goes for everyone else on this forum. We are all "Tempests" to some degree. (No offence, Tempest, just making a point.

If one likes beef and pork, then don't b!tch about the abuse and slaughter of animals.

If one likes cars and oil...

One is not my only target. There are plenty of bad businesses out there. The thing is, without a willing government to prop them up they won't exist.

GE is doing everything they can to merge with the US government and reap billions upon billions of profits from it. The large health insurance companies are trying to put their smaller competition out of business by cooperating with the "reforms" that might be headed our way.

Government is supposed to be the referee, not the player. When the 2 combine, the other team is bound to loose.

what do you think lobbyist are for . To get government positions filled with those who share their interests by the use of money to make money . It's the same thing .

Are you suggesting limiting people's 1st Amendment rights to petition the Government for a redress of grievances?

There is plenty of bad things that happen with lobbyist, but they have a right to be there. Buying gov. officials is wrong, but having someone lobby your case is not.
