Drain factory fill or wait

It's not about the oil, but what has accumulated in it from breaking in a brand new engine.

Which is what the filter is for. All that accumulation will likely be stuck to the sides of the oil pan and other surfaces anyway. Dumping the factory fill early is nothing but a waste of time and money, imo.

Have always bought new vehicles but we keep them forever. I've always done some spirited "ring seating" of acceleration then let the engine coast it self down with the throttle closed, repeat this process a few times. The I change the factory fill as soon as I get the vehicle home....15-50 miles typically. Then I change it again at 500 and then switch to normal 5k changes. Have never had any internal engine issues and have one at 170K, one at 158K, one at 150K and one at 110K. Not saying this is why I've had good luck but I don't see where it hurts to dump the initial break-in metals as soon as possible. It isn't up for debate about whether new engines produce elevated levels of metal in the oil.

Waiting until 1,000 for newer '25 Soul . Removed the factory oil+ filter little below 700 for the 1st '25 Soul . Plan next O.C. for that at around 4,000 miles which has 3,680 miles . Better weather would be a help .

It’s whenever the salesman says I’m going to take care of you like family is when I start feeling special or is it when the finance manager says I would even offer this to my mother.

I thought it was the lavender scented toilet paper in the BMW dealership crapper that gave you that “special feeling”.
Your stealership has lavender scented tp ??? The cheapskates I go to aren't that " urbane " , I guess. I feel cheated !!!

But......if salesman says so with Dueling Banjos being played in the background when he says it.......😖😫
