If the OCI mentioned by the manufacturer were to be ignored, and the OCI would just be based on the type oil being used, what OCI would you recommend for these two oils? (please state in km's). Assuming the car is quite new and in good shape, and ignoring other conditions and complexities.

The car is a Toyota Yaris.
Desert climate, mixed city/highway driving.

Total Quartz 7000 - 15W50

It gets warm, thus the low temperature rating of oil is less important.

Thus 5W-xx oils are rare, and 20W-xx oils are VERY common.

The manufacturer recommends 5W-30. However Toyota dealers known to use 20W50 oil out here (for 5000 km OCI).

Outside lubes use conventional 20W50 for 5000 km OCI and semi-synthetic 10W40 for 10,000 km OCI

My experience says the semi synthetic 15W-40 would be good for 5000 km OCI and synthetic 5W-40 would be good for 10,000 km OCI.

Please adjust my numbers if they are wrong.

I think you can very likely double those mileage figures with the oils you've provided as examples.
5000km oil change intervals are short even for conventional oils.

What about OCI for Synthetic 5W-40 km?
15,000 km or 20,000 km ?

10000kms is roughly equal to 6000 miles. So that semi syn should be able to go that far without trouble unless the driving pattern is severe.
The 5w-40 should be able to run a 16000km interval considering that is roughly equal to 10000 miles.
